It was the year 1995 that shattered the hearts of Quebec hockey lovers. This was the year that their beloved team the Quebec Nordiques, due to rising player salaries and other costs, left for Denver Colorado and became the Colorado Avalanche. This was a team that was adored by its fans, and it kept them entertained between the years 1979-1995.

Today there is a very small glimmer of hope for the city that loved its hockey; this glimmer goes by the name of Mark Charest. This practically unknown businessman from Quebec states, he would like to see a franchise back in the city of Quebec. It is believed that there are some 70 behind the scenes personnel that he has assembled for the task of promotion for this venture.

Although there has been on reported funding, nor has there been much in the way of investor interest, he truly believes the public will be the best gauge on whether or not it is viable. He did however speak to a few investors and there was some hope that something could be pulled off, so in a bane attempt to draw attraction to the idea, he posted an Internet petition and is hoping to see at least 500,000 names come October.

The sticky part in all of this comes from the mouth of an NHL spokesman, as they stated that there is not intention on the NHL’s part to expand the NHL, which plays host to 30 teams. Furthermore, as far as the NHL is concerned there are no teams interested that they are aware of, in moving to new cities.
